Suzanne Leitner-Wise, E-RYT 500, BWY, AYT                       

A fully certified Yoga teacher, Suzanne undertook a two-year Iyengar Yoga Teachers Training Diploma course in Surrey, England, is a certified British Wheel of Yoga teacher (who are recognized by the Sports Council as the Governing Body for Yoga in Great Britain) and certified Advanced Yoga teacher. She is a Registered Yoga Teacher and Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance in the U.S.A., which provides standards and recognition for Yoga Professionals. Suzanne is certified in teaching the Primary Series of Ashtanga Yoga (through David Swenson) and is also a certified Radiant Child Yoga Teacher (through Shakta Kaur Khalsa) -- click here for information and pictures of children's yoga. Suzanne attended Yoga Philosophy classes for 1½ years and has received her personal Mantra for meditation from the Himalayan Institute in England.

Having taught extensively and held workshops in England, she now lives in Alexandria, Virginia, and continues to study and teach her love of yoga, both locally and internationally. She also directs the U.S. 1  Yoga Teacher Training program which is a Registered Yoga School (RYS) with Yoga Alliance (please contact her for details). Continuing Education Credits (CE's) are available for attendance at Suzanne's classes, workshops and retreats. Suzanne has written various articles for companies such as the BWY, MAYA and Yoga Network.

Suzanne's teaching style is based on the precise postural alignment in physical asanas (postures), pranayama (breathing techniques) and therapy of Iyengar Yoga, and is also influenced by Vinyasa (the linking of correct breathing with movement), Ashtanga and many other styles in order to obtain the best possible practice for each student.

Having studied with many different teachers and styles, both in England and the U.S.A., Suzanne has a natural ability to adapt postures to suit each individual's capability and teach pranayama and meditation according to the requirements of the individual or class.

Suzanne offers yoga tuition in a friendly, professional, fun, caring and enthusiastic manner. She is a member of CYTA (California Yoga Teachers Association), MAYA (Mid-Atlantic Yoga Association) and BWY (the British Wheel of Yoga).

Suzanne is also a published artist and poet, a PADI-certified diver and mother of two young sons.
