- Asanas
should preferably be done on an empty stomach. Allow 3 to 4 hours to
elapse after a heavy meal or 1 hour after a light meal. Herbal tea,
juice or water may be taken before a class.
- Yoga is
practiced in bare feet. Wear comfortable clothing that will not restrict
your movement or breathing.
- Please
inform your teacher of any physical injuries/conditions or limitation
prior to class. If you are seeing a doctor regularly for a medical condition,
please ask their advice first.
- It is
best to practice yoga on a non-slip yoga mat.
- All forward
bending poses are beneficial for persons suffering from either high
or low blood pressure.
- Avoid
deep inhalations if you have heart problems or hypertension.
- Avoid
deep exhalations if you have low blood pressure or suffer from depression.
- The practice
of exhalations is calming and can help to reduce high blood pressure.
- Inverted
postures are not recommended for persons with high blood pressure, heart
problems, if menstruating or pregnant.
- If pregnant,
please do not begin a yoga practice for the first 3 months. If already
practicing, it is advisable not to practice between the 10th and 13th
week
- Do not
force the body beyond its capacity.
